Do what you say…

I have been trying to put together a series of blogs and videos of the things that I practice daily.  We all need reminders and to get back on track sometimes right?  Today I wanted to talk about our actions and follow through. Say what you DO and DO what you say….

Sounds a lot like Say what you mean and mean what you say.  But this DOING what you say means to follow through and that means A LOT!  It has become one of my daily practices.

It’s pretty simple. If you say you are going to do something YOU DO IT.  Because if you don’t then you are being incongruent with your promises and will lose reliability. If people can’t count on you, you lose TRUST. And you never want to lose Trust.  

People want to trust, but they don’t trust people that have no action to back up their words.  If there is no trust there is no relationship.  You see where I am going with this?  It’s the LIKE, KNOW, TRUST factor.

It’s so important to make sure you deliver on what you say you will do! One way to do this is to take a look at your commitments daily.  If you find you are overcommitted, step back. I have to do this all the time.  I always have a pretty heavy schedule, but if things have to be moved around…I do it.  If I commit…I do it.

The FIRST thing you need to do as a leader is R E A D!

Yes, READ!  This is so important for leaders new and old.  If you don’t like to read,  listen to an audiobook.  I recommend using Audible but you could even use your local libraries app to listen too.  However,  nothing really replaces that trusted, go-to hard copy book. Something you can easily reference, markup and bookmark.  You’ll want to be able to make notes and highlight what sticks out to you.

Go back and read those books that really fed you and affected you.  Read them once a month or once a quarter.  Keep them handy when you find they really do motivate you! Depending on where you are at today, you may be in a different place than when you read it the first time. You may take away messages that you didn’t get the first or second time reading it!  Reread these books!

I still read Go Pro once a quarter. I used to read it once a month… But now it’s once a quarter.  I love, love, love the book Motivation Manifesto. And I really got a lot from the book On Fire. Currently, I am reading the 5 Second Rule AGAIN. It’s fabulous with a lot of takeaways.

Can I tell you something… I was not good at this.  To be honest I’m not sure I am truly good at it now either.  What am I talking about… Apologizing.

As leaders, we go through a learning process.  As we develop, we see how important it is to go to work on ourselves.  I go to work on myself twice as hard as I do on my business.  That has helped me evolve into what I am today.

However, I learned something the hard way … The Art of the Apology.  I make mistakes all the time, but I have learned these three things:

  • You don’t always have to be right
  • Own your mistakes
  • Apologize for them

This is a GREAT lesson in humility.  Being able to say “I am sorry, I made a mistake. Let me apologize.  Will you accept my apology.”

Often times people are afraid to apologize because they think it makes them look weak. This is not true at all!!  The strongest people have learned to admit when they have made a mistake, apologize for it, then correct it.  You will quickly see how freeing this is for you.

That’s the beauty of apologizing!!

Even if some time has passed by,  if you still feel like you need to fix something or situation is still bothering you… Go fix it.  That is your conscience talking to you..telling you to fix something.

It’s that simple!  We don’t need to have such a hard time admitting our mistakes.  There is a lesson in humility here and it will make you a better Leader…TRUST ME!


Always remember… You can’t fix everything, but you CAN try!

Leadership Parameters

I want to talk about the boundaries and parameters of being a Good Leader.

No matter if you are in sales, coaching, network marketing or what have you, you have to have boundaries.  Setting boundaries early allows you to be the best version of yourself and the best leader to your team.

This is specifically important when you are leading other people who are building organizations and teams themselves within network marketing. You have to set boundaries day one because this sets the expectation for your team.

However, understand now that you cannot serve all people. The people that you personally bring into your business are your top priority. That being said, you want to be a duplicatable leader to everyone else.  Show them how to set the parameters.  Leading a team can quickly take over your life.  Things, like setting office hours or having a dedicated email instead of using facebook messenger, are easy ways to set the standard.  Being available 24/7 can quickly burn you out and it sets an unrealistic expectation for others to follow.

You may have people fall through the cracks… but remember, at the end of the day their success is dependent on them.  It is not dependent on who brought them into the business or dependent on the company.  It is only dependent on their own personal accountability.


You hear me say it all the time… You have to keep “Doing the Do”.  You cannot just sit back and expect it all to come to you.  But that’s where Duplicatable Leadership comes in. When you “Do the Do”, that is the expected results you will get from your team.

You must be the example for your team. Show your team how to:

  • Take ownership in their actions
  • Cultivate relationships
  • Build trust

In network marketing, you are a professional relationship builder. Always think about what you can do for others, not what you can do for yourself.  Be that leader and watch your team prosper!!

What makes you… YOU?

Often times in network marketing people Brand the company or product without thinking about branding themselves.  So why is it so important to Brand yourself??  Great question…let’s discuss.

You are the one that creates the experience. You are the one people are buying from.  In this industry and in this day and age you have to align yourself with a great company and a great product. At the end of the day, people buy from people that they Know, Like and Trust. Don’t ever forget this.  Provide the best customer service, the best experience….PERIOD.

Many representatives of companies send thank you cards for purchases, a follow-up phone call to see how they are liking what they purchased.  Also if you don’t have a referral program…Create One!  That way you can offer this to all of your customers. Let them know you care.  Many people ask for milestone information so that they can send them a birthday card or a small gift. The power is in the personal touch.  What is your Personal Touch?

Also remember even if you haven’t been in the industry very long or you are with a new company, YOU are the expert. You know more than the people who you are talking to. Don’t be afraid because if you don’t know the answer, you can find the answer.  Learn as you Earn and Earn as you Learn.

Treat your business like you invested a million dollars in it. Then that will be the ROI (return on investment) you will receive.  People will take you seriously when you treat your business like a business not hobby.  

Also, have fun!  People are attracted to passionate, humorous, excited people and let’s face it we need more of that in our lives. I say it all the time… positivity and happiness equal bigger paydays.  It is a proven fact. So what are you grateful or happy about in your life and business? Go out and share this wonderful vehicle you have to save people from their dreary jobs, bankruptcy or foreclosure.  Let’s face it EVERYONE and I mean everyone is looking for more money.

What qualities do you have that stand out? Is it your willingness to help others? Is it time management? Are you a visionary? A taskmaster? A speaker? Focus on what you are really good at and hone that skill. Surround yourself with people who are better than you. If you make a mistake…and we all do…apologize be genuine and move on!  Leaders are willing to take risks…calculated ones.  


Don’t live inside a box, a cubicle for the rest of your life, get out there and experience greatness.  Experience success you deserve!

Make It OR Break It!

I am in the lovely Bay City, reminiscing about my amazing experience last weekend. My bucket is so full right now. In was inspiring, fulfilling and motivating beyond what I could’ve hoped for!!

Last weekend we did our First Annual Leadership Retreat. We flew in 11 of our frontline Leaders and they got to bring 1 top performing team member.  They held a contest and had a lot of fun with it.  Encouragement and Reward at its finest!

The theme was “Train the Trainer”.  Each person shared their favorite training technique and methods.  We talked about so many good topics and there were so many great takeaways.

So now, I am overflowing with joy!!   Being with these amazing leaders… and some of us have worked together for a long time… reinforced in all of us the “You have to make it or break it” mentality.

During the retreat, these words stuck out to me:  “When people get stuck they struggle. Then they look to outside sources and in turn get mixed up in non-income-producing activities.   We have to stick with the PROVEN income activities there’s no reason to stray!

I say all this to you for this main reason… You have the opportunity to Make or Break your business it’s all up to you!!  Reach out to your leaders go to these retreats there is so much learning to be done from each other.

Don’t take it Personal…

I tend to take things personally sometimes. It’s no secret that I wear my heart on my sleeve and that I am extremely emotional. Because of these qualities, I have learned to take a step back and give it 24 hours or some “breathing room” when I feel offended. If I don’t do that I find myself ready to jump down somebody’s throat. Have you ever felt that way?

We need outlets to relieve the stress that adds to us feeling this way. I have a lot of people ask me “when” and “how” I take time for myself.  I do it every day!!  My workout routine… running, gym, yoga… I do that for me! They are my zen moments. They are my outlets for stress relief.

I know some people have trouble unplugging especially in this business.  When I need to unplug I put my phone away or give it to my husband… and he’s more than happy to keep it from me 😉  Unplugging can be key to destressing.

Rest, Relax, Recharge. It’s all part of personal growth. We have to find time for these.

Woman, I am talking to you here because men don’t really do this 😉  Women are taught to put everyone else first over themselves. So our own self-care gets put on the back burner. But that’s not okay. When we put self-love, self-care, self-appreciation of ourselves first… we grow. When we do that we are the best we can be!

What does it mean to be the best you can be??  It doesn’t mean you have to be a super mom 26 hours a day.  It doesn’t mean you have to be on for your team 26 hours a day.  It means you set parameters and your boundaries so you have time for YOU.


If you are not personally growing… your business will not grow!!  Let it start with your mind. I always say “Mind your Mind”.  It’s important what we put in there.  Put down the romance and mystery novels and go read a personal development book. You will thank me later!!

Personal Growth

Hey Y’all, let’s talk personal growth.

This is so important to me and always has been. You guys know I love anything that will encourage challenge and grow me. So that I can encourage challenge and grow others.

I always say “Go to work twice as hard on yourself as you do on your business”.

Even as a leader, I know that I still need to work on myself.  I get frustrated,  I get angry, I take things personally and I make mistakes.  BUT we ALL make mistakes…and that’s OK.  The key is acknowledging when you do.

There is a certain humbleness and admitting that you made a mistake.  It can be easy to brush-off when someone gets upset at something you said, whether you didn’t think it was wrong or you are chalking it up to perception.  But it is most effective to be quick in admitting when you have made a mistake… apologize for it and learn from it.

Part of making mistakes is learning.  I have made plenty of them in my past and I still make them today.  It’s about learning from them. It’s all a learning process!!




In this business of Speaking, Coaching and Network Marketing,  you are learning everyday.  It doesn’t matter how many years experience you have.  It doesn’t matter how much money you already are making.  It matters that you work harder on YOURSELF than anything else.

When you do that, you become a better person and then it transcends!  

Folks, that’s when you can help more people and be more for those who need you. And THAT’S what it’s all about!!

Today, Let’s humble ourselves and allow healing and growth to take over 🙂



People Helping People

My heart is heavy right now.  We all have friends, family and even market partners that we know are suffering in South Texas right now.  It’s at these times that every little thing you can do will make a difference. There are so many outreach programs out there to help support those communities in need. Plug in somewhere and do something.

But besides the devastation in Houston, people need our help all of the time. We need to make it a priority to do something. Whether you donate $5 or pack your truck full of stuff.  We just had some people donate hair products recently because they were lost in the hurricane.  Regardless of what it is just do something.

That’s it… it’s that simple. Put your positive energy out there and pay it forward.  You create an amazing energy that’s like a domino effect when you pay it forward.

Devastation can happen anywhere at anytime.  If it hits you,  you will be looking for people to step up and do something.  You can be that person for someone in need today!

Everything you do for the good of mankind comes back to you a hundredfold every time!!
