I want to talk about the boundaries and parameters of being a Good Leader.
No matter if you are in sales, coaching, network marketing or what have you, you have to have boundaries. Setting boundaries early allows you to be the best version of yourself and the best leader to your team.
This is specifically important when you are leading other people who are building organizations and teams themselves within network marketing. You have to set boundaries day one because this sets the expectation for your team.
However, understand now that you cannot serve all people. The people that you personally bring into your business are your top priority. That being said, you want to be a duplicatable leader to everyone else. Show them how to set the parameters. Leading a team can quickly take over your life. Things, like setting office hours or having a dedicated email instead of using facebook messenger, are easy ways to set the standard. Being available 24/7 can quickly burn you out and it sets an unrealistic expectation for others to follow.
You may have people fall through the cracks… but remember, at the end of the day their success is dependent on them. It is not dependent on who brought them into the business or dependent on the company. It is only dependent on their own personal accountability.
You hear me say it all the time… You have to keep “Doing the Do”. You cannot just sit back and expect it all to come to you. But that’s where Duplicatable Leadership comes in. When you “Do the Do”, that is the expected results you will get from your team.
You must be the example for your team. Show your team how to:
- Take ownership in their actions
- Cultivate relationships
- Build trust
In network marketing, you are a professional relationship builder. Always think about what you can do for others, not what you can do for yourself. Be that leader and watch your team prosper!!
Make it a great day!!
So often I hear about people that can’t get ahead. The “woe is me” people that think nothing will work for them. FACT: We are the only one in charge of our reality.
I created my own downfall a few years ago. Completely constructed out of my own effort… you know the “woe is me” syndrome. Now with that being said, we can not control outside external forces… BUT we can control how we react to them. Everything that we go through is a temporary situation. We CAN control our destiny. It is all a matter of our choices made every day.
Life can throw curve balls, hard balls, even walks, but we can circumvent many of these things happening. There is a 2 book series called the Happiness Advantage and Beyond Happiness where it is statistically proven that happy people are more successful. That gracious people have more good and financial success coming into their lives. It is all about being elastic, being flexible. And most of all letting all of the negativity. Let the small insignificant problems roll off your back. That is a huge part of moving forward, not getting stuck and not buying into the “No’s”.
My mantra, “Be a duckie and let it roll off… Shake those tail feathers.” Because sometimes you really do have to say WTH and not look back.
Give your time to productivity and income producing activities vs. giving your time to negativity, whining and complaining or people that fall into this category. One of our team members said, “You can step in the poop or step over it.” Where you spend your time is so important!
If you are a business owner, you are creating a legacy! How do you think the Donald Trump’s, Michael Phelp’s, or Pharell’s got to where they are today? They didn’t take No for an answer (and they got told no way more than you and I did). I am sure they had pity parties and you will too. But give yourself 30 seconds, brush it off and get back up. Part of being successful is being resilient.
Part of success is keeping your focus and your eye on the end result. Success is 100% based on YOUR intention. What do you intend for yourself? What is it that you want more than anything else for you and your family? Then go out and get it. You may not have the answer falling at your feet right at this moment BUT eventually, the answer reveals itself.
That my friends is Intuition. Intuition will never lead you astray.
Let’s talk setting INTENTIONS…
Do you have some BIG things, BIG goals you are setting for yourself? I do!
While on my morning run this morning, one of my Big Hairy Audacious Goals was on my mind and the first thing I thought of was Setting my Intentions.
I once read “The intention is the starting point of every dream. It is the creative power that fulfills all of our needs.”
An Intention is the starting point to which ALL GOALS are set and met. If you don’t set your intention you won’t get to where you want to be.
Every day we need to set our intentions and expect them to happen!! ~ Set your goal, Have a date, Write it down~ In doing this, doors start opening for you!!
Be wary of negative self-talk. Be intentional in the way you talk to yourself about your goals. And most importantly, don’t listen to the negative-nellies in your life. Talk to the people who believe in you and will encourage you.
I have some really amazing things I want to do in the coming months. I have called on some very highly successful people to help keep me accountable. Surrounding yourself with people who believe in you and hold you accountable will help you meet your goals.
The universe wants to help you help other people. When I set my intention, my goal is always to be a servant leader. What you put out into the world will come back to you!! Remember this when you are setting your own intentions.
I want to touch people’s lives through my business and my opportunity. Creating more and better leaders along the way. This Mantra drives my intention….My intention helps me meet my goals.
My challenge to you is…Set your intentions high this month. Make it a big goal and stretch yourself. Visualize it… there is so much power in visualization!!!
Bottom line, if you don’t set your intention of what you want… you are never going to get it!
Set your INTENTIONS!
We talked a lot about how important it is to have focus in your business, but today I want to talk about something else important…Good Ethics. You need to have and practice Good Ethics, not only as Market Partners, but as the Leaders in your organization.
You want to be a Networking Marketing Professional. When you treat your business with good ethics, and you put other people first, you can’t go wrong. There are so many people in the world that need more hair or want better hair, which means we have a lot of people to talk to and A LOT of people to help. That being said, we need to help each other too. If you know a customer has talked with someone else or has a relationship with another Market partner, you need to point them back in that direction. That’s practicing good Business Ethics and it’s important that we wear those ethics on our sleeves every day.
You want to grow your business Organically. Don’t front load or invest a ton of money to try and make rank. Because here’s what happens… Next month, you’re not going to be able to do it. This business is not about front loading or investing thousands of dollars. It is not our business model and it goes against the Direct Sales Association. Grow your business Organically by talking to more and more people.
Next, be exclusive to your business! Put your focus on THIS business. It WILL create a future for you! It’s going to create a future for your family…a Legacy! You can even Will this business to your family… how great is that! You have the opportunity to make this as big as YOU want to. Go out there and make it Grand…make it HUGE!! That means, getting out there and talking to lots of people. That will give you a Legacy Paycheck and a Legacy Residual Income.
Put others first, because it always comes back to you. Karma comes around and goes around and it serves you the dish that you deserve. I believe that from the bottom of my own heart!!
Take care and make it GREAT!
